SUMMER OPPORTUNITy:

Camp Odayin is a nonprofit serving young people with heart disease. We’re based in Minnesota, but for the past two summers we have hosted a Residential Camp in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Camp is only $25 for campers to attend and we are supported by volunteer camp counselors, nurses, and cardiologists. Since we’re new to the area, we’re eager to establish relationships with local networks of philanthropic individuals who might be interested in volunteering.

Camp counselors help create the best five days of the year for Camp Odayin’s campers with heart disease! For five fun, high-energy days of overnight camp, they partner with a co-counselor and nurse, live in a cabin, and supervise a group of 6-8 campers. Counselors have an opportunity to play while participating in activities with children/teens, encouraging growth, and serving as positive role models. We are seeking camp counselors for our Residential Camps in Elkhorn, WI and Crosslake, MN are in particular need of awesome male counselor applicants.

A training session on the Sunday prior to camp and a commitment for the full five-day camp session is required of all volunteers. Please note, all volunteers must be at least 21 years old. Our volunteer staff application and additional information are on our website at http://campodayin.org/volunteer/. Email alison@campodayin.org or call 651.351.9185 with questions.

TUTORING OPPORTUNITY:

The physics learning center is looking for tutors next year for physics 103, 104, 207, and 208. Email Maddie (mebert2@wisc.edu for more information!

SCRIBE OPPORTUNITY:

The essential duty of a medical scribe is to document patient-physician encounters in the patient's medical chart in real time. Scribes follow physicians to every room and record every aspect of the patient's history, physical exam, and diagnostic assessments and plans. This direct exposure to medicine and the ability to develop professional relationships with physicians is why scribing is such a great experience for pre-professional health students. I have attached a more thorough medical scribe job description with this email.
