Jinan Sous

Jinan is a senior majoring in biochemistry with certificates in global health and leadership. Originally from Beit Sahour, Palestine, Jinan immigrated to the US at 4 years old and grew up in Beloit, Wisconsin. Other than AMSA, she works as a Special Projects Intern at Campus and Visitor Relations, an EMT-Basic in Belleville, is a Teaching Assistant for Biochemistry 501, and is a researcher in the Audhya Lab in the UWSMPH where she works on an animal model for Heriditary Spastic Paraplegia, a neurodegenerative disease. Jinan took the MCAT this summer and is planning on applying to medical school in May, 2021.

Brent Evan

Brent is a Junior majoring in Chemistry. He has two pet turtles, a dog, and chickens. In his free time, he enjoys to go hiking, camping, and playing tennis. This past summer, he built his own blacksmith forge. Last semester, Brent worked in a nutritional sciences research lab, but is unsure whether or not he will continue working there this semester.

Tyson Phan

Tyson is a sophomore majoring in Neurobiology and Psychology with a certificate in Disability Rights and Services. He is from Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. However, he spent his 4 years of high school in Connecticut. Tyson is involved on the board of Badger SPILL and a charity organization called Hands of Volunteers, and as a member of Vietnam Health Project. He is also currently working in research lab with Dr.Craig Berridge in the Department of Psychology. In his own time, he enjoys cooking with his buddies, and either playing badminton in the Nat or throwing some frisbee around.

Marka Grunberg

Marka is majoring in Psychology, with the hopes of becoming a psychiatrist, specializing in schizoaffective/similar disorders. She is originally from Madison, but lives by the Wisconsin Dells currently. Her hobbies include going to Badger games, going on walks with her dog, traveling, and hanging with friends. Fun fact: she works for Nike...maybe she can give you a deal ; )

Joey ekholm

Outreach Trustee| jekholm@wisc.edu | he/him/his

Joey is a Senior from Eden Prairie, Minnesota who is majoring in Neurobiology and Nutritional Sciences with a certificate in Global Health. He is the Health and Wellness Chair in his frat Chi Psi (Lodge). He researches at the Waisman Center in the Gamm Lab working on neural retinal degenerative diseases. Joey also works as a Scribe for the Beaver Dam Emergency Department, respite provider for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Dane, ACE certified personal trainer working at RecWell, and a Standardized patient at UWSMPH.

Robyn Kuchler

Robyn is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She is from Libertyville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, was raised a Packers fan. Outside of AMSA and class, Robyn volunteers with American Family Children's Hospital, Adapted Fitness, and through APO, a community service organization. She does research for the UW Neuromuscular Biomechanics Lab and also works part time as a mechanical engineer for a company that designs and manufactures medical devices. In her free time, Robyn loves spending time with family,  hiking, camping, skiing, or any other outdoors activity.

Reagan Beyer

Advocacy Trustee | rbeyer@wisc.edu | she/her/hers

Reagan is a senior from Oshkosh, Wisconsin majoring in Biochemistry and Political Science with a certificate in Global Health.She currently works in a clinical research lab evaluating various aortic pathologies and endovascular devices. She also works in the Liu Lab under the Department of Surgery where she developed a project to determine whether exosome secretion can promote macrophage polarization in AAA tissue. Reagan volunteers with the HELP program at Meriter and is currently a campaign fellow with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Allison Tomes

Allison is a sophomore double majoring in Biochemistry and Spanish with a certificate in Global Health. She is from Minnetrista, Minnesota. Along with AMSA, Allison volunteers with Badger Volunteers,  and volunteers with the HELP program at Meriter Hospital. When she is not doing school work or volunteering, she loves to spend her time working out, shopping, pending time with family and friends, hanging out with her dog, and traveling.

Malia Land

Malia is a sophomore from Irving, Texas majoring in Nutritional Sciences with a Certificate in Global Health. Her hobbies include playing ping pong, cheering on the Badgers at football games, and spending time with friends. Malia also enjoys volunteering at the VA hospital. In the future Malia hopes to get involved in a research project on campus!

Natalie zinn

Natalie is a Senior from Stillwater, Minnesota graduating in December with a major in Neurobiology and a Certificate in Health & the Humanities. Her hobbies include cooking, playing board/card games, practicing yoga, and cheering on her favorite sports teams (Skol Vikings). She does research on epilepsy in the Sutula Lab in the Department of Neurology, volunteers with the HELP Program at Meriter Hospital, and works as a Health Technician for UHS. She is currently applying to medical schools and would love to chat with anyone who is looking for help or guidance!

Jack Meyer

Jack is a senior majoring in both Neurobiology and German. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school to become a surgeon. He is from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he enjoys visiting his two dogs and family. He does research on epilepsy in the Sutula Lab in the Department of Neurology and volunteers back home at his local Aurora hospital. He also currently works as an EMT for Lifestar Ambulance. In his free time, he is an avid skier and loves spending time outside (he is in need of another ski friend to join him on his exhibitions this upcoming winter to Cascade Mountain!).

Logan Moore

Logan is a senior majoring in Political Science with a certificate in Global Health. He is from Sauk City, Wisconsin, a town about 20 minutes away from Madison. He is doing research with the Global Health Institute and is also a CNA. In his free time, Logan enjoys climbing/backpacking, reading, and running. On campus, he can be found on one of the many trails in Madison or spending time with his friends.

Thomas Montana

Thomas is a junior majoring in Microbiology and is pursuing a certificate in Global Health. He is from Ely, Minnesota. He is an avid Wisconsin Badger and Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoy playing hockey and being with friends in my spare time. (Thomas is also quite good at poker). He also enjoys volunteering in the Emergency Room at Meriter Hospital.

Josh Verhagen

Josh is a senior majoring in Biology with certificates in Global Health and Leadership. He’s from a small town near Appleton, Wisconsin, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his friends in his free time. Josh currently holds two research positions at UWSMPH in the Department of Transplant Surgery, helping to find ways to achieve drug-free graft acceptance and organ preconditioning methods to induce immunological tolerance. Outside of AMSA, Josh enjoys volunteering at the Children's Hospital and at the Wingra Clinic as a Health Resource Navigator.

Stephen Helada

Stephen is a senior majoring in Pharmacology/Toxicology and would like to pursue a career in pediatric oncology or endocrinology. After watching an online lecture, Stephen enjoys making the journey from his room to the living room couch to watch several episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Stephen's favorite activity is going to the beach with his family and dog.

Sindhu Shakar

Sindhu is a sophomore from Kenosha, Wisconsin majoring in Microbiology and Economics. She is researching in the Entomology department, looking at the geologic factors which lead to evolutionary differences within the ice crawler population. She also volunteers in the burn unit at the UW hospital. One thing Sindhu does to de-stress is dance Bharatanatyam, which is a classical Indian dance. Some of her other hobbies include hiking, hanging out with friends and family, and baking.

Alea Sabry

Alea is a junior double majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and Political Science in the L&S Honors Program. She is a first generation student from Rochester, Minnesota. Outside of AMSA, Alea is a passionate member of Political Science Student Association (PSSA), tutors science and math at a local high school, and conducts research with the Department of Ob/Gyn at Meriter Hospital. Her favorite hobbies include spending time with family and friends, dancing and doing yoga, and spending too much time on TikTok.

Landon zimmerman

Landon is a junior from Fond du ac, Wisconsin majoring in Spanish And biology. Landon works and does research in the huttenlocher lab in the microbial sciences building. In his free time, he likes riding his skateboard, hammocking, and playing spike ball or volleyball with friends.

Ally Slager

Ally is a senior majoring in Biology with certificates in Health and the Humanities and Leadership. She is from Stoughton, Wisconsin where she embraced Stoughton’s strong Norwegain heritage and was a SHS Norwegian Dancer for two years (you can check some of her moves out on YouTube). She currently works as a research assistant in the Skala biomedical engineering lab in the Morgridge Institute for Research. When she’s not working or busy with school, Ally loves to be outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring new places. Traveling is one of Ally’s favorite things to do, and she cannot wait until it’s finally safe to do so again.

Nolan is a senior graduating in December with a major of Biology with a certificate in Global Health. He is from Plymouth, Minnesota and is an avid Vikings fan. Outside of AMSA he is involved in Men’s Rugby (he is the current president), the Sutula Neurology Lab, Slow Food UW, volunteering at the Children’s Hospital, and working as an Emergency Room Health Technician at the Veteran’s hospital. He is a Chubbies brand ambassador. He frequents Cap Center Market, Paul’s Pelmeni, and Parthenon Gyros.
