ASHLEY DOHERTY

Ashley is a super senior majoring in Genetics and Genomics with certificates in studio art and dance. She is from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and enjoys drawing, painting, playing the piano, and traveling (shoutout to the AMSA international trips!) Ashley is a part-time ballet teacher and also does medical illustration work for UW Hospital. She does developmental genetics research in the department of Pediatrics, and has also worked on research for the department of surgery. Ashley is always willing to chat so feel free to reach out to her!

McKayla Miller

McKayla is a senior majoring in Biochemistry with certificates in Biocore and Education. She is from Eagan, Minnesota, but Madison has become her home after the last four years. McKayla’s favorite pre-medical activity is working in the ED at St. Mary’s as an ER tech. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, yoga, reading, Game of Thrones and popcorn.

Nolan Arostegui

Nolan is a Junior majoring in Biology with a Certificate in Global Health. He is from Plymouth, Minnesota, a suburb just northwest of the Twin Cities. On campus he is involved the UW-Madison Men’s Rugby Club, of which he is the Social Chair. He also is in the Sutula Lab and a volunteer at the American Family Children’s Hospital. He is an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, a lover of movies, and a proud Chubbies Ambassador. This year, he is taking the MCAT, so if you see someone at the library wearing brightly colored hawaiian shirts crying over a mountain of textbooks, it’s probably him.

Jacob Lindemann

Jacob is a senior majoring in Biology (CALS) with certificates in Health and the Humanities and Integrated Studies in Science, Engineering, and Society. He is from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, which is between Sheboygan and Green Bay. Jacob does glaucoma research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and is a CNA in his hometown when not in Madison. Outside of classes, he enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, and hanging out with his friends.

Tommy is a senior majoring in Biology and is pursuing certificates in Global Health and Environmental Studies. He’s from New Berlin, Wisconsin and is a diehard Milwaukee Bucks fan. When he is not in the classroom or in the lab, you can find him playing tennis, other intramural sports, and spending a lot of money on food on State Street.

Jeni is a senior studying Nutritional Science with certificates in Business and Global Health. She is originally from Grafton, Wisconsin. Outside of AMSA, Jeni is involved on the board of the Student Organ Donation Advocates (S.O.D.A.) and she works at Meriter Hospital as a health unit coordinator. She is also a student-athlete tutor and peer facilitator for physiology. Her favorite hobbies include cooking, spending time with family and friends, and updating the AMSA Instagram account. On Saturdays, you can definitely find Jeni supporting Badger football!

Joey Ekholm

Joey is a Junior majoring in Neurobiology and Nutritional Sciences with a certificate in Global Health. He grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota where he played Football and Lacrosse but now mainly recreationally lifts and exercises and is on the Badger Powerlifting Team. Joseph is also a frat boy in Chi Psi (Lodge) in which he is the Health and Wellness chair. He researches at the Waisman Center in the Gamm Lab utilizing stem cells to model and potentially treat neural retinal degenerative diseases. Joey also works as a Scribe for the Beaver Dam Emergency Department, respite provider for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Dane, and is en route to becoming a certified personal trainer.

Ally Slager

Ally is a junior majoring in Biology with certificates in Health and the Humanities and Leadership. She is from Stoughton, Wisconsin where she embraced Stoughton’s strong Norwegain heritage and was a SHS Norwegian Dancer for two years (you can check some of her moves out on YouTube). She currently works as a phlebotomist at Interstate Blood and Plasma. When she’s not working or busy with school, Ally loves to be outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring new places. Traveling is one of Ally’s favorite things to do and she cannot wait to go to Thailand over winter break with AMSA.

Logan Moore

Logan is a junior majoring in Political Science with a certificate in Global Health. He is from Sauk City, Wisconsin, a city about 20 minutes away from Madison. He is doing research with the Orthopedics department and is also a CNA. In his free time, Logan enjoys climbing/backpacking, reading, and running. On campus, he can be found at Camp Randall on game days, studying in the library or on the Memorial Union Terrace on days that Madison isn’t a frozen tundra.

Tommy Staniszewski

Tommy is a senior majoring in Neurobiology with certificates in Global Health and the Biology Core Curriculum (Biocore) in the L&S Honors Program. He’s from Franklin, Wisconsin and enjoys running and playing piano. Tommy works at UWSMPH researching many clinical trials for the treatment of various aortic pathologies. Tommy also enjoys teaching science for 1st and 5th grade at Poynette Elementary school, as well as TA-ing for a biocore FIG on campus.

Jinan Sous

Jinan is a junior majoring in biochemistry with certificates in global health and leadership. Originally from a small town near Bethlehem, Palestine, Jinan immigrated to the US at 4 years old and grew up in Beloit, Wisconsin. Other than AMSA, she works as a campus tour guide, an EMT-Basic in Belleville, team leader with Badger Volunteers, and is a researcher in the Audhya Lab in the UWSMPH where she works on an animal model for Heriditary Spastic Paraplegia, a neurodegenerative disease. Jinan has a love for exploring different cultures and places and has been to 12 different countries and is excited to add another on her list this winter!

Isaac Johnson

Isaac is a senior majoring in political science and serves as the President of the Political Science Student Association here at UW. He is a fourth generation badger who grew up in the Twin Cities so he has Gopher chirps ready at all times. He does research in the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center working on the developmental disease Idiopathic Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism. He is also a recent inductee to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society in the US. Isaac is an avid political junkie who enjoys debating and playing Settlers of Catan.

Marka Grunberg

Marka is a senior majoring in Psychology, with the hopes of becoming a psychiatrist, specializing in schizoaffective disorders/similar disorders. She is originally from Madison, but lives by the Wisconsin Dells currently. Her hobbies include going to Badger games, going on walks with her pupper, traveling, and hanging with friends. Fun fact: she works for Nike...maybe she can give you a deal ; )

Stephen Halada

Stephen is a junior majoring in Pharmacology/Toxicology and would like to pursue a career in pediatric oncology. When not in class, Stephen spends most of his time on the band field with the marching band or at Camp Randall on Saturdays. Stephen also enjoys working with kids as a camp counselor during the summers and at American Family Children’s Hospital during the school year.

Brent Evan

Brent is a sophomore majoring in Chemistry. After graduating, he plans to go to medical school. His hometown is Menomonie, Wisconsin where the majority of his family lives. He enjoys visiting family and grew up very close to them. His hobbies include camping, hiking and tennis. When the weather gets cold, he enjoys shooting pool and rock climbing indoors.

She does research on epilepsy in the Sutula Lab in the Department of Neurology, and started volunteering with the HELP Program at Meriter Hospital this semester.

She loves her PCOS research at the primate center and working as a phlebotomist at St. Mary’s hospital. Jack is a junior majoring in both Neurobiology and German. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school to become a surgeon. He is from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he enjoys visiting his two dogs and family. He does research on epilepsy in the Sutula Lab in the Department of Neurology and volunteers back home at his local Aurora hospital. In his free time, he is an avid skier and loves spending time outside (he is in need of another ski friend to join him on his exhibitions this upcoming winter to Cascade Mountain!).

Cait is a senior studying Microbiology and Global Health. After graduation she plans on pursuing both an MD and MPH. Cait is a CALS Ambassador, a Microbiology teaching assistant, and a Career Services Peer Advisor. Outside of classes Cait loves to paint and do yoga. She is from Janesville, WI and is a fourth generation Wisconsin Badger!
